It should be long-lasting, being made of strong plastic. It is larger than the cameras, which are ultra-compact, thus is not as easy to drop. All the photos it captures are of a genuinely good quality, and that includes the close-ups. A great feature is that you can capture videos with sound and upload them immediately to YouTube. It comes with a really good photo editing software in ZoomBroser. It does take a while to recharge after you have taken a photo, which is one of the few negatives of the Canon PowerShot A495. As you would expect from a camera which operates on two AA batteries, it takes even longer to recharge when you use the flash. As is common with cameras in this price range, the PowerShot A495 has no optical image stabilization or an optical viewfinder.

Although the LED screen is plenty big, the resolution isn’t good, but the photos downloaded on the computer look much better. For the cost, the Canon PowerShot A495 is a very good camera for a novice. The slowness of the recharge after taking a picture is the worst of the downsides.
