Camera Review Of The Nikon D4

The Nikon D4 is one of the best D-SLR cameras on the market. Although it is not quite as cheap as some of the others but you are paying for the quality and the control that Nikon offer. Personally I am a huge fan of Nikon in general and when I bought this camera I found that it added so much to my business. The Nikon D4 offers the ideal balance of Image Processing, ISO Range, Sensor Size and resolution. I have used it for a variety of clients but the first clients were an Irish photobook business that allows the user to create a photo book. They loved the quality of the photographs and they were done to a very professional standard. It was all the camera.

TECH SPECS

Pixels

The Nikon D4 D-SLR camera has 16.6 Million pixels available to the user. This is more than enough for any professional photographer. This D-SLR allows you to take extremely high quality photographs with ease and they will look superb which will make your clients extremely happy. With this amount of pixels it allows you to take on stills that you would not have taken on before. Its wonderful what confidence will do when you have the Nikon D4 ready to snap. The pictures are truly amazing that are Captured and this camera has added so much to my work and business.

Shutter Speed

For some clients of mine this is a big deal. Take photographs for a sports team so they want photographs that are good quality and sequenced like a video of every tackle or catch. The Nikon D4 allows me to get close to the action and the shutter speed allows me to snap great sequenced pictures. The Nikon D4 uses an electronically controlled focal plane, which allows for speeds of up to 1/8000 to 30 seconds.

  • Self-timer mode
  • Mirror-up Mode
  • Quiet Shutter Release
  • 5:4 Format
  • Single frame mode
  • Continuous low-speed; 1-10 frames per second
  • Continuous High-speed; 10 frames per second

Picture Control

One thing I like about the brand that Nikon have created is the control that you have over your photos when using one of their D-SLR cameras. They allow you to change between settings with ease, which gives you more control over the picture you take. The D4 is the same and it offers the standard Nikon Photo Control settings:

  • Standard
  • Monochrome
  • User Customised
  • Portrait
  • Vivid
  • Neutral
  • Landscape

Storage & View Finder

The Nikon D4 uses an Eye-Level Pentaprism angle lens reflex viewfinder, which adds so much to the camera. Its Magnification is 0.70x and the eye point is 18mm. The View Finder Frame Converge is:

  • FX (36×24)
  • 1.2X (30×20)
  • 5:4 (30×24)
  • DX (24×16)

Not only can you use the standard SD card but Nikon have now built it in to allow you to combine your camera with:

  • SDXC
  • SDHC
  • Compact Flash Drive

The Nikon D4 is a great camera and I would recommend anyone who can afford it to buy it.

GPS, It is Not Just for Directions Anymore

GPS technology is becoming more and more prevalent in our daily lives. Like of many us, you probably already use it for driving directions to unfamiliar locations. Getting to your destination with easy to follow instructions makes things much simpler for someone who drives for a living, as well as for someone who just explores for pleasure. But, installing a new GPS system or improving your existing system can provide additional benefits that are worth the cost involved.

GPS is Not Just for Directions Anymore

Nowadays, you can receive traffic alerts directly to your GPS device. These allow you to easily find a quicker route or detour to avoid traffic congestion, accidents, road construction, and other difficulties. It saves time and helps to eliminate stress, especially if you are on a long trip or have long commutes for work.
Today’s GPS systems relay specific directions at every step. But, did you know that GPS devices can also offer hands free calling, Bluetooth, MP-3 music, 3-D street level mapping, touch screens, real-time traffic reports, weather reports, fuel prices, and FM radio? And those features are just the beginning; there are many more features being developed, even as you are reading this article!

GPS is All Over the Place!

Like most technologies, the hardware for GPS devices has become better and smaller. Currently, GPS systems can be installed in a number of places. Most mobile phones now come with a GPS receiver installed. There are even GPS watches. GPS is used to track pets, wildlife, fleet delivery trucks, children, and stolen vehicles.

Stolen Vehicles are Recovered Faster

Incidents of vehicle theft are increasing. According to the National Insurance Crime bureau, approximately one million cars were stolen last year in the United States or one every 26.4 seconds! Only 12.4% of those were recovered. GPS will change this as it becomes more popular for use as a recovery tool for stolen cars. GPS devices are now being installed right at the factory, which should lead to a reduction in thefts and increases in recovery rates.

GPS for Business

Keeping track of mobile staff members is not an easy task. However, by using a superb GPS system, you can easily monitor employees, helping them to save time by averting traffic problems, helping them visit more customers throughout the day by improving the effectiveness of their driving routes, and even check to see if they are taking extensive breaks or arriving late for important business appointments. Managing a fleet of vehicles is challenging, and fleet management GPS devices can assist managers in cutting expenditures, improving productivity, and going green.

Conclusion

Most people either have heard of or use GPS navigation devices. However, GPS technology offers much more than just basic navigation. Businesses can enhance driver productivity with various GPS applications such as turn-by-turn directions and by equipping workers with mobile computers that include integrated GPS technology. These can lead to reduced costs and better output. It is recommended that you speak with a professional to discover what benefits a new GPS system can offer to make drive time less taxing, regardless of the length of the trip or the route.

Why Has My Broadband Slowed Down?

There are a number of things that can affect your Internet speed and stability. You should normally expect some fluctuations in service during the first week of service as the line stabilises and the best connection is established for your line. This is nothing to worry about and is a normal occurrence; you should find that it gets better and you are able to have a reliable, speedy connection within a week or 10 days.

Faults on Your Broadband

When broadband is connecting and disconnecting regularly, you are likely to have a fault on your line and this can cause drops in speed. After disconnection, it can take up to 3 days for broadband to stabilize. If there are a lot of disconnections, then your line may well try and slow your broadband speed to get to a level that there is stability.

Faults on Your Telephone Line

ADSL broadband comes through the telephone line, and therefore, any problems with the wiring or the line will result in speed issues and disconnections. This is a very common reason for problems with your broadband.

If your line is fixed, the problem will probably go away immediately and it’s possible for your providers to run a quick test to find out whether there are any faults on the line.

Wireless Connectivity

There are a number of factors that can improve or diminish your Internet speed over wireless connectivity.

  • Obstacles can block the signals- Your router should be well-placed and not behind obstacles
  • Higher is better- Your router should be high enough to get a signal through your house.
  • Proximity is the key- You should not be connected too far away or you may suffer poor quality connectivity on your device. Don’t get within 2 metres either.
  • Premium routers- You may want to upgrade to a premium router if you have a big area in your house for the signal to travel to.
  • Signal Boosters- It’s also possible to get boosters to relay the signal further into the depths of your house.

Incorrect Setup of Microfilters

If you haven’t got your microfilters connected properly it will not be possible to get the best possible broadband. Many intermittent connection and speed problems are a result of microfilters not being placed where they should be placed, or not being connected properly.

In addition, it is important to avoid long telephone cables as they will not pass the Internet data very well. If you perceive that the microfilters are not doing their job, then it’s possible to upgrade to better quality microfilters than you received from your Internet service provider. The ones from your ISP may not be top quality to say the least.

Weather Conditions

Thunderstorms and heavy rain can dramatically affect Internet speeds. A storm may even cause permanent damage to the apparatus and therefore require the intervention of an engineer. During electrical storms it may actually be worth taking your equipment from the socket so that it doesn’t get broken. Bear in mind turning off may mean the connection has to stabilize again after being re-plugged.

Interference from Electrical Devices

It is possible to have interference from electrical devices in your home and even from the neighbour’s home. Electrical devices such as alarms, lights, boilers, and TVs, can really affect the performance of your wireless signal. You could try turning things off to see if it improves matters. Ensure that your broadband router doesn’t have electrical devices too close.

Your Computerised Device

Some older computers and laptops struggle to receive the broadband connection due to poor wireless receivers. In addition, viruses can cause issues so it is important to run spyware, adware, and Trojan detection tests so you can remove these. Infections can drain your bandwidth in the background.

Top Tip

If you’re asking yourself “How do I test my broadband speed?” the easiest way is to get online and search for a provider that will provide you with your ping, upload and download speeds. Test both plugged into the Ethernet and wirelessly in order to find out whether you have a problem on your line setup, or if the problem is through your wireless connectivity.

When he Googled “Test my broadband speed”, Phil Turner was amazed at the results. He contacted his service provider who fixed the fault on the line.

Five Specs We Really Want To See From Apple’s iTV

The fact that Apple is working on a TV related product isn’t much of a surprise. What some may not know is that the company has already released a set top box called the Apple TV. However, adoption of the device has been limited and the company hasn’t been aggressively promoting it. Rather, it was focusing on products that make use of mobile internet services, like the iPhone and iPad.

Apple TV thumb Five Specs We Really Want To See From Apples iTV

Image sent by author

But there are now rumors that Apple is working on releasing its first actual television, the iTV. Some have even said that they have seen working prototypes of it. When it comes to a television made by Apple, what do consumers expect from it? Here are a couple of things:

Easy Integration With Other Apple Devices

Many of those who would purchase the Apple iTV when it comes out would probably already own another Apple device, like the iPhone or iPad. Users would probably want the iTV to be able to interact well with these devices. For example, one could want to use their iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad as a remote control, or use the TV to display pictures and video that are stored on another device.

Voice Control With Siri

Controlling a TV with voice commands may have sounded like a futuristic dream a decade ago, but now that voice commands are available on numerous mobile devices, it would simply seem logical that an iTV would feature Siri, the voice-activated virtual assistant that changed how we interact with our iPhones.

A Wide Range of Apps

Apple’s television is expected to run on a modified version of iOS, so it’s quite likely that it will support apps. There is a lot of potential for apps that would work with an internet-enabled television. You could have apps that let you instantly check movie reviews or share what you are watching with friends. While Apple has never been a company that is too strong on video games, there could be many new games released for it, allowing the iTV to be used as a gaming console.

Easy Access to Online Content

With tv on demand services growing increasingly popular, many hope that the iTV will allow users to instantly stream their favorite TV shows and programs straight to the device.

Great Picture Quality

Apple has received praise for its Retina display, used on the iPad and some of the newer Macs. This makes users expect that the iTV will have an excellent picture quality, which will rival some of the top TVs on the market.
